About Us

Based at the duel locations of Coventry University Technology Park and Warwick University Science Park, Centre for Factories of the Future (C4FF), was created in 1984 after it instigated the well-known 'Factory of the Future' Project in the European Union. C4FF was one of initial nine organisations designated as a EUROTECNET Project. The Centre was involved with many EU supported projects, including COMETT, FORCE, ADAPT, PETRA, SOCRATES and EUREKA. The centre was also the instigator of a number of projects including the MIDAS and DTI PERA programmes.

The key areas of expertise at C4FF include

Business Intelligence: Business intelligence systems, application of artificial intelligence in manufacturing and business

Maritime: Maritime Education and Training, Maritime Research and Development

Automation: Manufacturing systems integration, Marine Systems Automation

Hybrid Vehicles: Hybrid systems development; Diesel Engine Systems, Marine Diesel Systems.

During recent years C4FF has expanded into the field of maritime education and ship management, leading and coordinating a number of EU Leonardo projects, as well as playing a pivotal role in many innovative technology-led UK Government funded Technology Strategy Board Collaborative Research and Development projects and EU Framework 7 Research and Development projects.

The C4FF Centre in Coventry were formed in the early 1990’s to coordinate the work of the various Factory for the Future projects in the EU. C4FF continues to seek involvement in exciting and innovative new projects and today has evolved into a number of divisions.
