SURPASS - Short Course Programmes in Automated Systems in Shipping

Human operators rarely understand all the characteristics of automated systems and their limitations. Surpass aims to improve maritime training in this area by providing e-learning and assessment platforms, with the aim of improving the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary to work successfully with automated systems aboard vessels.

M'AIDER - Maritime Aids' Development for Emergency Responses

M'AIDER is the second phase of the SOS (Safety on Sea) project. It concerns aspects of human error during emergency situations which can be corrected by preparing crew members for a wide range of scenarios. M’AIDER will produce simulations of actual accidents, incidents and near-misses for the purposes of training. The intention is that by preparing crew to deal with emergency situations, safety at sea will be improved.
